IKEA shopping loot

Here's the stuff I bought from IKEA Hong Kong:

I'm currently stoking up on duvets and this one had a cute print and was one of the cheapest ones out of all the designs.
ÖDESTRÄD Quilt cover and 4 pillowcases, Queen size – HK $129.9

This was one of the duvets I've been wanting for the longest time! I just love the alphabet design! :)
EIVOR ORD Quilt cover and 4 pillowcases, Queen size - HK $169.9

I love colorful prints and this pillow was just too cute to pass up. And there are even pineapples in the design!
KNAPPSÄV Cushion, multicolour - HK $69.9

I love this holder which fits all my cute paper napkins perfectly.
LIKSIDIG Napkin holder, white - HK $25.9

This placemat has a cute design and made of plastic which makes it easier to wipe and clean after eating. :)
KLISTRIG Place mat, multicolour (4 pcs) - HK $25.9

This picture frame is made of plastic but the ornate design is really nice. And it can be used hanging or standing up.
KVILL 5x7 frame, white - HK $59.9

These colorful plastic bowls and glasses are perfect for the kids' snacks.
KALAS Bowl, assorted colours (6 pcs) - HK $19.9
KALAS Mug, assorted colours (6 pcs) - HK $19.9

Miley actually held on to this stuffed toy as soon as we entered and she even wrote her name on the white tag with a pencil! So we had to buy it talaga hehe. And we also bought this cloth crown which if I remember correctly was on sale that time, so I think it was just $19.
HASSELMUS Soft toy, mouse - HK $11.9
VITSIG Children's hat - HK $39.9

My son is currently addicted to straws so he was already so happy with this purchase hehe. It's a bit wider than a normal straw and the colors are so cute. :)
SOMMARFINT Drinking straw, assorted colours (100 pcs) - HK $7.9

So many cute stuff, so little time! I'm really happy with everything I got but if only I could fit so much more in our luggage! I wanted to buy tables, chairs, rugs... Definitely can't wait to travel again to another country with an IKEA store. :p

Wishing everyone peace, joy and love this holiday season! Here's two versions of our annual Christmas card with photos taken by Luxe Photography (which reminds me, I still haven't shared the complete set with you guys... will have to blog about it soon ;p).

Anyway, right now, we're having Noche Buena and opening gifts already. So MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!! Hope you're all having a great time just like we are. :)

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party!

Every year, my hubby's family has a theme for our Christmas party. We've had Hawaiian, cartoon families, baduy outfits, weird hats, etc. This year, the theme was UGLY SWEATER!

At first, I was not liking this theme because I couldn't find a sweater that was ugly enough haha! But then, this type of party is apparently popular in the States and upon doing some research, I found a lot of ideas online. I wish I had more time to really get into this project though, but I was super busy wrapping gifts and doing last minute errands.

Anyway, I just made this snowman sweater for hubby and used an ice cream cone for the nose. Sorry, medyo bastos haha! Pero it was a big hit with everyone lol! ;p

For Miley, I just sewed on small ornament balls on the collar of her shirt and added this small Christmas sock which I got from National Bookstore. Then the blue tassels on the shoulders were added by hubby's cousin. Pero ewan ko, hindi naman naging ugly, cute pa rin tingnan e! ;p

Hubby bought Sabe's shirt in Old Navy and we find it super funny haha! Hubby's a big fan of Will Ferrell kasi. I just added some more Christmas balls to the shirt para mas baduy hehe!

And me? I just found this shirt in Landmark a few days before and bought it for P199. Pwede na pang Ugly Sweater since it looks kinda Christmasy coz of the colors and it's something I definitely would NOT wear in real life haha! Was supposed to add all sorts of Christmas balls to match with the polka dots but again, walang time!

Here are some of the Ugly Sweaters people made. Pati si Grandpa career e lol! ;p

And the highlight of the night for me was this game we played where you throw a coin and whatever number it lands on corresponds to a certain prize. The catch though was that most of the prizes were really old! Sakto with the "ugly" theme of the night talaga e. As in panahon pa ni Mahoma hahaha! Anyway, our loot was 2 bottles of peanut brittle (what were the chances that Sabe and Sky would both get this talaga?), a sandwich maker (hubby), a glass bowl (Miley), and P100 for me! Ok na nga un mga nakuha namin compared to the others e! Un iba, velvet jewelry box (na may mga stain na), alarm clock (na natunaw na un battery), and you get the picture! It was really so funny and fun! ;p
Haaay, I can't believe Christmas is finally over! Ang bilis! Anyway, from my family to yours, keep enjoying the rest of this holiday season and the last few days of the year. Cheers! :)

Katsu Sora Japanese Restaurant

One of our new favorite restaurants in SM BF is Katsu Sora which opened just a few months ago.

What caught our eye when we first ate here was their Salad, Soup and Rice Buffet. All sets come with unlimited refills of salad, soup and rice from the buffet bar (except kids set). Appetizer pa lang, busog na! ;p

This is the buffet bar:

steamed broccoli, potato salad with egg
veggies like mixed lettuce, white onions, cucumber
fresh fruits
unlimited rice and miso soup

You can also add toppings to the rice like black and white sesame seeds, sake, tarako or tamago.

rice toppings

Different salad dressings like Grated Onion, French dressing, Soy Sesame dressing, Wasabi dressing, Creamy Wasabi dressing, Mentaiko dressing, Thousand Island dressing, Japanese Creamy dressing, Chinese dressing and Lemon dressing.

salad dressing
more sauces at the table

Here are their different types of pork. The Iberico Pork is the most expensive with dishes at around P650, the Kurobuta Pork dishes are about P550, the Shimofuri Pork dishes are around P450, and the Sakura Pork dishes are about P350.

Of course we had to order Katsudon, and we decided to get the Iberico Pork Set (120g) which came with Japanese rice, salad, soup and hot tea. The meat was indeed super soft and tender and very delicious!

Iberico Katsudon Set
P680
love how there's a flame under the bowl so the dish is really hot!

We also got the Tonkatsu Curry in Kurobuta Pork (120g) served with a mild curry sauce, stewed vegetables and rice.

Kurobuta Tonkatsu Curry Set
P570

We also orderd the classic Tonkatsu in Sakura Pork (120g) which came with Japanese rice, salad, soup and hot tea.

Sakura Pork Tonkatsu Set
\P345

Everything was so good and the price is very affordable considering the salad, soup and rice buffet. The Iberico and Kurobuta Pork were really so tender, but I have to say the Sakura Pork wasn't bad at all too! Definitely a must try for all katsu lovers out there. :)

Locavore Kitchen x Drinks

When one of my best friends is in town from Singapore, she always makes it a point to eat somewhere new and of course, in a Filipino restaurant. She was actually the one who discovered Locavore in Instagram and insisted that we eat there despite it being all the way in Kapitolyo, Pasig.

Locavore opened last October 2014 and the name actually means "one who eats foods grown locally whenever possible". They use organic ingredients and serve locally produced Filipino dishes with a French twist by Chef Mikel Zaguirre.

Not being familiar with the area, we almost passed by and missed the restaurant since the facade (as well as the street itself) was very unassuming.

They were still on soft opening when we visited and they had actually just started serving lunch (from 11:30am to 2:30pm) a few days before. But the place was surprisingly full on a weekday and we even spotted a few celebrities eating there as well. Looks like we were in the place to be! ;p

The whole place is very industrial and modern looking. I love the use of chalk on the bare concrete walls and the mix of metal with bamboo.

open kitchen

This was their Soft Opening Menu when we visited last month, so not sure if they changed some items or increased the price already at the start of this year.

Here's the stuff we ordered:

They have lots of choices of kinilaw like Fresh River Shrimp, Kalibo Oyster, Tanigue. and Lapu-Lapu. We ordered the Tuna and I really like the presentation in a jar. It was a little too oily for us though.

Tuna Kinilaw (P220)
Gensan Tuna/Wansoy/Green Bell Pepper/Red Bell Pepper/Ripe Mango/Togarashi

Pusit Ala Pobre (P220)
Squid/Squid Ink/Garlic Confit/Spring Onions

I'm not a fan of sinigang but I really enjoyed their version which is way different from how sinigang is usually served. This was probably my favorite dish from our entire meal!

Sizzling Sinigang (P530)
Beef Short Ribs/Sauteed French Beans/Sampaloc Gravy/Garlic Confit

Gising Gising (P290)
Sigarilyas/French Beans/Shallot and Garlic Confit/Gata/Spring Onion

This pata dish was kinda "makunat" though. It was a bit of a disappointment since we've definitely had better from other Filipino restaurants like Mesa and Crisostomo.

Thrice Cooked Pata (P770)
Picked Cucumber and Onion/Sarsa/Pinakurat/Bagoong Dipping Sauce/Soy Vinegar Sauce/Cucumber

On the other hand, this beef dish was really soft and tender. Another one of my favorites.

Beef Pares Stew (P390)
Short Ribs/Brisket/Star Anise/Garlic Confit/Shallot Confit

Love how they served the rice. They have organic white and brown rice to choose from as well.

Roasted Garlic White Rice (P70)

They had a lot of dessert items on the menu but only the Pandesal Pudding was available when we were there. We wanted to try the Leche Flan pa naman, but this was a good alternative.

Pandesal Pudding (180)
Custard/Pandesal/Cheese/Salted Egg/Dulce de Leche

Oh, and I really like how they have all kinds of sauces and condiments on the table. Really completes the dining experience.

There were some hits and misses but definitely a must try!

Skyler's monthly photos

$

My baby Skyler is now officially 1! I can't believe a whole year has already gone by! I love this idea I saw in Pinterest about taking monthly pictures in the same spot to really see the baby's growth over the year. I wasn't able to do this with Miley and Sabe so I'm happy I was able to do it with Sky. :)

It was a bit of a challenge making sure the angle of the photos was similar all throughout. What I did was mark the spot where the chair should be with masking tape so I'd have an easy time positioning it whenever we did the shoot. And it was also quite hard making Sky sit still in the chair as he got older! I definitely needed someone close by to help me make sure he didn't fall. ;p

Anyway, I love how the pics turned out. A great way to look back at the year that was. So again, happy 1st birthday Skyler! We love you so, so much!!!

Our new fishies from Cartimar

Hubby had to get his bike fixed in Cartimar one day, so he decided to bring the kids since he wanted to show them the animals there too. Little did I know he had a secret agenda to buy an aquarium, which he has been bugging me about forever. He's always been fond of fish and in fact when he was a kid, he told me that his room with his younger brother was filled with about 10 aquariums!

He's been wanting to get one of those expensive aquariums from Hobbes and Landes, but I told him maybe when the kids were older or something. So he just convinced us to tag along here in Cartimar to see what other options they had.

There were lots of other animals there too like dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs...

Hubby was right to bring the kids along. They were so amazed with all the colorful fish and they were so excited to buy new pets and take them home. It was like taking them to the zoo hehe! ;p

Warning though, the smell in Cartimar can be quite overpowering. Plus there are big containers filled with worms which they feed the fish! It was a bit gross haha!

scared to enter the store coz there were worms in front!

Poor Miley completely HATED the smell haha! After a while, she was begging to go home! Not for the weak stomach. ;p

Anyway, we ended up buying a small aquarium with a water filter... If I remember correctly, everything was less than P500.

And 3 goldfish (which cost P10 each!)

We even got a small house for our new pets! :)

And here's our new aquarium all set up! And for the names of the fish? Meet Goldie, Pat-Pat and Pot-Pot! The kids love feeding them and watching them swim around. :)

I'm definitely up for getting a nicer aquarium in the future, But for now, this will do! :)

Matsuri Japanese BBQ Yakiniku by Tito Chef

Those in the BF area would probably be familar with Tito Chef, a restaurant in Presidents Ave. Sucat, Parañaque. Last year, we noticed some construction going on right beside it and I immediately guessed that it would probably be some expansion to the restaurant. And my prediction was right since it was Matsuri by Tito Chef that emerged.

Hubby and I were so excited to try it out a few months ago but then we were told that they weren't officially opened yet (despite the restaurant being fully built with the lights on and everything when we would pass by, just like you see in the pic below) because there were still some problems with the exhaust system or something. So we had to wait a few more months (we honestly thought they weren't going to open anymore)...

And then last month they finally, really opened! So hubby and I trooped there with the kids for dinner a few days ago.

interiors

They have an area with low tables and of course the kids wanted to sit there. They were excited when they saw there was a TV, but they were only showing Japanese channels. They also didn't have wi-fi yet as of the time we visited.

Here's their menu:

We decided to get the YAKINIKU CHOICE SET good for 2, served with rice, soup, and side salad dessert (P980).

soup
side dishes

We also got Yakitori Pork (P180) from the appetizers.

Here's the meat from the Yakiniku Choice Set: Original + Karubi + Harami + Tori + Ton Toro

You had to grill the meat yourself, not like in other places where the servers do it for you.

The kids had fun "cooking" but I was paranoid they might burn themselves!

Anyway, I don't know if we were cooking wrong, but the flames was really big. A waiter came by and asked us not to put the meat in the middle so it won't get burned daw hehe. And there was a LOT of smoke (maybe they still have to fix their exhaust?). But after a while it was all good. :)

The meat was really yummy and tender. You can put sauce, but it was tasty for me even without. I think hubby and I should have gotten the one good for 3. Medyo bitin pa for us haha! ;p

After, they gave these wet towels which were small at first but then grew in size after absorbing the water in the bowl. The kids were really amused by it. :)

Only complaint I have was that their cup of rice was really small. But that's just maybe because I'm a rice lover. We ended up ordering 1 more cup and still felt it was bitin haha. And ang mahal ng plain rice ha - P70! But we enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely be back. :)

Flying High With Sky!

Our dear baby Skyler just turned 1 earlier this month and we marked the big day by having a travel themed party! To be honest, it crossed my mind not to have a party anymore (by the 3rd child, all you can think about is how to save money hehe) but hubby and I decided that a first birthday is really a milestone that should be celebrated. Besides, both his Ate and Kuya had big parties so we felt Skyler should have one too.

Of course, we had a budget and I made sure I was able to stick to it. I wanted to DIY everything, but I knew I couldn't do it given the size of the venue and the number of guests. And this was just after the Christmas season, which was such a busy one for me, so I didn't have time to prepare. Hindi talaga kaya ng powers ko haha! Thank goodness I was able to find a great stylist who was able to exceed my expectations with the decors. I'll be blogging more about all the details from the party but for now, here are some bits and pieces from Skyler's special day. :)

Post-Christmas staycation at Crimson Hotel Alabang

We booked an overnight stay at Crimson Hotel Alabang right after Christmas to maximize the holiday season with the family. We've already stayed here before, and you can read more about it HERE.

I totally love how the lobby looked so festive with the Christmas trees and Christmas village display. So pretty!

This time, we stayed in an Executive Room which was bigger than our room before. The king bed fit all of us comfortably, plus it also had a couch which the kids loved lounging on (and Miley actually insisted she sleep there that night).

I wish they had a bathtub though :(

It was such a relaxing stay and we spent practically the whole time in bed catching up on sleep. And their comforter and pillows were so soft and fluffy! :)

The weather was really chilly but the kids insisted on taking a short swim. I swear the water was so cold but all the kids in the pool didn't seem to mind! ;p

Since we stayed in an Executive Room, we had full access to their Executive Lounge. There were evening cocktails from 5-7pm, but there wasn't as much food like in Fairmont Hotel's lounge.

There was an assortment of alcoholic beverages too, which was a total waste on me hehe. My one complaint was that they didn't even have regular Coke during our stay. They had Coke Zero but come on! Booo!

The promo we got during that time included Breakfast Buffet for 2 adults and 2 kids (5 years old and below)...

plus Buffet Dinner OR Lunch at Cafe Eight. I love their selection and everything was so yummy. Super sulit! :)

We had such a great time and for sure this won't be our last stay in Crimson Hotel. :)

Sen Lek Thai Noodle

One restaurant in BF Homes Paranque that seems to be always full when we pass by is Sen Lek. There have been many restaurants that have come and gone in the space right beside it (it's currently Urban Farm), but Sen Lek has remained strong despite lots of competition in the area.

Here's their menu which is so completely affordable:

Anyway, we usually end up ordering the same thing when we eat here. Everything just smells so good and tastes really yummy! :)

Fried Spring Roll - P110
Flaming Fried Kangkong - P95
Panaeng Curry Beef - P195
*this is really spicy so we usually ask if they can make it as mild as possible ;p
Chicken Pandan - P65 / piece
Sen Lek Fried Rice - P270

They also have other non-Thai desserts but we chose to go with the more traditional Mango Sticky Rice. The mango was really sweet and I liked the consistency of the sticky rice.

Mango Sticky Rice - P100

This place is definitely a favorite of ours and for the taste and price, it's no wonder people keep coming back. :)

Our Luxe Photoshoot

$
0

I love taking pictures and of course, having my pictures taken too. Hubby hates it though and gives me the evil eye whenever I ask him to take anything more than 3 times (hey, may slight differences ang angle and poses lol!).  How I wish I can have my photos taken professionally all the time, if it just wasn't that expensive! It really is an investment and I've indulged in it after my kids were born so we can have nice family photos we can treasure forever (see our Stork Studio shoot HERE and our Picture Company shoot HERE).

Anyway, I'm always on the lookout for new photographers and a few years ago, I saw my friend post gorgeous photos of her baby on Facebook. I checked and found out that they were taken by Luxe Photography. When I got pregnant, I was seriously contemplating on doing a maternity shoot but then decided to just do it myself (check out my DIY maternity shoot HERE and HERE). I figured it would be better to have the photos taken when the baby was born. Personally, I prefer taking baby pics when they're a few months old versus newborn since I think they're definitely cuter and their personality will already show. So fast forward to when Skyler was 8 months and we finally had our much awaited photo shoot!

Anyway, what I love about Luxe was their amazing set-ups, and it was honestly my first time to see that in kiddie and family shoots back then. Most of the other studios just use plain backgrounds and simple props (which I also like for the classic look). But now, having a stylist is the norm not just for pre-nup pictorials but also for baby shoots! When I was emailing with the photographer, Wilvin, I said I wanted to do a vintage travel theme. He was suggesting doing it outdoors, but I wanted it in the studio to get the full styling effect. Besides, the weather can be so unpredictable too. We're from the south but we trooped all the way to Quezon City on a weekday just to do this pictorial!

You've probably already seen a snippet of our shoot from our 2014 Christmas card and only now have I finally gotten around to sharing the complete set with you guys! The cost of our shoot was P9,500 and what I liked was that the package came with 50-80 edited hi-res photos. This was such a good deal since when we had our shoot from Stork Studio (which cost about the same), it only came with 10 hi-res files (plus a few print-outs). Can you imagine how hard it was to choose only 10 pics??? Plus, Luxe was more flexible with the time (3 hours) versus Stork Studio which only gives you 1 hour. So even if it was expensive, I felt like I was definitely getting more bang for my buck. :)

When we had our shoot, it was literally just in the living room of our photographer Wilvin. From all the previous pics I saw in Facebook, I wouldn't have guessed it was just taken in someone's sala! Anyway, he was in the process of building his studio then (also in his home), which I know is currently done already. It was kinda weird at first taking pics in the living room with people popping in and out, plus his kids were also there. I guess that would be my only complaint from the shoot if any. It became a challenge tuloy to get Miley and Sabe to pose properly since they just wanted to play with Wilvin's daughter. ;p

Shooting with children is definitely a challenge and you just have to learn to go with the flow. I wanted a pic with all 3 kids together, but we couldn't get a good one since no one wanted to sit still. I had 2 outfit changes planned but by the 2nd change, no one was in the mood anymore! I was expecting Miley to be game and Sabe to be the more difficult one, but it ended up being the opposite. Miley's smile was so "pilit" most of the time so we only had about 5 good shots of her. Sabe meanwhile completely hammed it up and modeled like a pro! Skyler was crawling all over the place and even bumped his head. So I was super happy when I finally got the CD after 3 weeks and saw these gorgeous pics! You wouldn't think by looking at them how hard it was to take haha!

Anyway, sorry for the super long intro! Now brace yourself for a LOT of pics!

And out of all the pics in the CD, there was only ONE family picture! Miley isn't smiling but at least it looks nice. Thank goodness we were able to get a good shot!

I'm super happy with how the pics turned out! Super sulit too since I was able to use the pics for our Christmas card and also Skyler's party. I would definitely love to have another shoot done in the future and I'm getting excited just thinking about what theme to do. I think I should make this a yearly thing, don't you think? ;p

Vikings Buffet at Jazz Mall Makati

Skyler turned 1 last month and one of his celebrations included a family lunch at the newly opened Vikings at Jazz Mall Makati.

Would you believe this is my first time to eat at Vikings?! Yes, ako na lang ata ang hindi pa nakakakain here lol! Usually kasi, we either eat at Buffet 101 or Yakimix. Anyway, I love how bright and colorful the place looked, while still looking elegant and classy. I later found out that each Vikings branch usually has a different theme, and this one had a very European feel to it.

Love this colorful hand blown glass chandelier that welcomes you as you enter. Reminiscent of Murano glass from Venice!
dining area with plush seats and colorful paintings of Italian scenery

Now we're ready to eat!

So many food to choose from - there's the Appetizers, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, and Italian stations!

salad station

I definitely wasn't able to try everything, but I made sure to stuff myself in my favorite section - the carving station. Give me my meat! ;p

Love how there's kiddie plates and utensils too. :)

So many drinks to choose from too!

Look, they even have a milk tea section! But everyone was kinda tamad to make one (parang ang complicated diba?), although I think the kids will have fun with this. :)

I was already so full, but I made sure to leave some room for dessert!

As usual, there were so many people celebrating their birthdays because of the free promo. In our group alone, there were 4 people with birthdays including Sky! But what I loved this time was how it wasn't the usual Happy Birthday song. They sang it to the tune of "I'll Be There For You" by The Moffatts and it was so upbeat with the waiters doing such a good job singing and dancing! I couldn't help but dance and sing along with them too lol! And I love the added touch of the vikings hat and backdrop as well. :)

So again, happy birthday Skyler! Thanks for your birthday treat hehe! :)

Our Prenup Pictorial

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary and to celebrate, I thought I'd share our prenup photos taken way back in 2008 by Flickerhappy Studio. I knew I wanted a vintage theme and I remember searching long and hard for a location for the shoot. I happened to see a photo of this place in Real Living magazine which turned out to be A11 Gallery in Pasay City. From the pictures I saw, I knew I had to have our shoot there.

I didn't know who to get in touch with so I remember just writing a random email to a contact address I saw online. Lo and behold, someone replied and said that it was the very first time someone had inquired about a prenup shoot! So yes, we hold the distinction of being the first ever couple to do their prenup in this place. :)

I completely love how the photos turned out because every single corner of the place was gorgeous! Looking back, it's probably how I would still want my prenup pics to look even if we did it today. And you might think we look sad in the pics coz there's hardly any with us smiling but that's intentional lol! We definitely didn't want to be mushy or cheesy so we just treated it like a fashion spread hehe. So yes, no kissing shots! I remember having my trial makeup done before the shoot then I just did my own hair. I also was the one who styled our outfits. Sariling sikap even then hehe! :)

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics as much as I loved looking back on them. Throwback! ;p

Sky Ranch Tagaytay

We celebrated Skyler's actual birthday last month by going on a trip to Tagaytay. Hubby had work so it was just me, the kids and my in-laws. We started the day by going first to Nuvali because the kids just love feeding the fish there.

Then we had lunch at Conti's where Skyler had a birthday cake! :)

Afterwards, we passed by the Pink Sisters Convent so Skyler could go to church.

Then finally, we were off to Sky Ranch. This was actually my first time to go here so I was quite excited to go with the kids. But kwento first. This was in early January, but it was quite hot in Manila that afternoon that I figured it would just be cool and breezy in Tagaytay. My mother-in-law even checked the weather there and it said 24 degrees. So I just dressed the kids in long-sleeves and just brought a jacket for Skyler at the last minute. OMG. When we got to Sky Ranch, the wind was so strong and it even started drizzling. It was FREEZING cold! We weren't prepared for the weather at all! My father-in-law was in shorts and my mother-in-law just had a sheer scarf that Miley kept wanting to wrap around herself (pero parang useless naman hehe). I seriously wanted to just stay inside a restaurant the whole time to keep warm but the kids were so excited to go around!

at the horseback riding area which is right by the entrance to Sky Ranch

Anyway, entrance is P100 per person but you have to pay separately for each ride inside the park.

The Sky Eye which I wanted to ride but the kids were afraid of. Maybe next time...
Other rides inside the park. Tickets at P50 each (except the Super Viking which is P100)

There were gazebos around where you can sit and rest. I went inside one to see if it would provide some sort of defense against the wind, but wala effect haha! After a while, I just brought Skyler inside a souvenir shop to keep warm for a bit.

We rode a couple of rides like the carousel. We stayed in the 2nd floor which had a nice view of the place but it was so windy too! I swear, parang torture sa lamig. As in tagos sa buto no joke! This was even colder than when we went to Hong Kong last November. Anyway, I just decided to layer the kids' extra shirts for added warmth.

We also rode the Express Train (P50) which went around the whole park.

After, we headed to the Playzone to try out the inflatables.

The kids had so much fun here jumping around! Like I said, it was cold but after they played here, they were sweating buckets! Buti pa sila hehe. ;p

There was also a bazaar right across where they were selling food and souvenirs.

Skyler meanwhile had a blast in this grassy area! Buti na lang talaga I brought his jacket!

It drizzled again after a while and my mother-in-law decided to buy the kids bonnets. It was a cute souvenir of our day hehe!

Our last ride for the day was Wonder Flight (P50) which was really fun if it wasn't so cold hehe!

It was a fun day but lesson learned: always bring jackets for the kids!!! Better to be safe than sorry. Anyway, it was a nice place for the whole family and we had fun celebrating Skyler's birthday. Will definitely try to come back next time with hubby. :)

Vikings Buffet at SM BF

It was my first time to eat at a Vikings buffet (Jazz Mall branch) just last month. And wouldn't you know it, I was able to visit their newest branch in SM BF just a few weeks after!

SM BF branch officially opened last January 23, 2015

I believe each Vikings branch usually has a different theme, and if the one in Jazz Mall has a very European feel to it, this branch in SM BF has a modern-rustic vibe.

There are lots of wooden, earthy elements...

But then they're balanced out by these modern light fixtures.

This branch was also smaller compared to the one in Jazz Mall, and the layout of the place had the food on one side of the restaurant instead of in the center.

another seating area

Since the place was smaller, I felt that there was less food than the one in Jazz Mall. But I actually preferred it since I didn't feel so overwhelmed with all the choices and the visual overload. They still had all the different stations (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Italian, Carving, Dessert) but I really liked the presentation of the appetizers which is what you see right when you enter the restaurant.

Dessert station:

Anyway, I also love how they recycled the viking ship from the How To Train Your Dragon Christmas display. It's definitely a great place for a photo op with the whole fam! :)

Rates are the same as in Jazz Mall. We brought Sabe with us and he was just a few millimeters above 3ft so we were still charged with the kiddie price huhu! Akala ko palalampasin na pero hindi talaga e! Dapat pala, pinatanggal ko un shoes baka nakalusot pa hehe. ;p

After this, I think I should stay away from buffets for a while. With summer just around the corner, I definitely need to start my diet now hehe!

Continuing Breastfeeding

I'm proud to say that I've been nursing Skyler exclusively for a full year now! Like I mentioned before, I definitely experienced my own share of challenges and difficulties with breastfeeding especially with my first 2 kids (read about my breastfeeding journey HERE). It is only with Skyler that I've been able to nurse for this long and without having to mix feed with formula.

Nursing at The Boutique BnB in Tagaytay. And I love this chair, very apt don't you think? ;p

I'm so happy that he has developed a big appetite and fondness for all types of food. Because of this, he doesn't nurse as often anymore during the day. Sometimes, he even doesn't drink the expressed milk I leave behind when I go out for as long as 6 hours. Also, I noticed that he doesn't like feeding when we're out since he gets so distracted with his surroundings. During his 1st birthday party, he didn't nurse the whole time since he was probably so excited!

But at night, that's when he nurses practically the whole time. He sleeps early (about 8pm) and doesn't wake up until about 6-7am (parang alarm clock). He would cry for a bit at times and toss and turn, but then he'd just need my breast to fall asleep again. I'm his human pacifier! Sometimes when I'm facing the other way from him in the bed, I'll suddenly feel him tap on my shoulder as if to say "Mommy, wake up! I'm hungry!" But the good thing is I don't have to get up anymore to sit down like when he was younger. Now, all I do is just lift my shirt while lying down and he'll know what to do haha! Which means more sleep for mommy as well. And I love how we're in a hugging position when he feeds at night. Makes me sad to think when he's bigger na and I have to wean him already. :(

He also now loves to tug at my shirt, either lifting it up or pulling at the collar. And then he says "mim" (milk). But what's funny is he does this to his yaya or his lola too! And they get so scandalized especially when we're out in public haha! And sometimes when I'm at bed but working on the computer or just watching TV, he'll just crawl over, lift my shirt, and start feeding on his own lol!

Anyway, here are some questions I usually get about breastfeeding these days:

Doesn't it hurt especially since he has teeth now?
Him breastfeeding with teeth doesn't hurt at all. What hurts is when he intentionally bites me (I guess he gets gigil sometimes?). I've been bitten quite a few times and I couldn't help but shout in surprise. This makes Sky cry since he seems to know he did something wrong. I don't know if me telling him not to do it again worked, since he hasn't bitten me for quite some time now. But he has bitten me and other members of the family in different body parts hehe! ;p

Your baby probably never gets sick since he's exclusively breastfeed.
I don't know why, but Skyler was the one who got sick most of the time compared to his older sister and brother who were formula fed at the same age. I was confused too since I know that breastfeeding should provide him with antibodies and make him less prone to sickness. But I guess you really can't help the virus from spreading in the house especially with kids. Whenever Miley or Sabe would get colds, Sky would get it too. Probably because they can't stop hugging and kissing him! So I guess breastfeeding exclusively is not a guarantee that your baby won't get sick at all. What I think helps is that he's able to bounce back quickly from it. :)

Why don't you use a breastfeeding cover when nursing in public?
I only used a nursing cover for the first few months. But after a while, both me and Skyler found it constricting. He would refuse to feed from under it and would keep trying to take it off. I guess he just likes to see his surroundings and me clearly. And it's just easier feeding him at once without having to take out the cover from my bag and then putting it on. I also don't own any nursing tops or dresses, I just usually wear something loose that I can lift up without exposing my back or too much skin. I admit, I myself got uncomfortable whenever I would see breastfeeding women in public before I had my own kids. But now, I don't care where and when I have to nurse. I'll do it literally anywhere haha! But I make sure that I am always discreet. And I really prefer this because I find it's less obvious when I'm nursing without a cover. With a cover, people know that you're really breastfeeding. But without one, it just looks like I'm holding a sleeping child. :)

Until when do you plan on breastfeeding?
I hope to be able to do it until he turns 2 years old. But I now know the feeling of wanting to breastfeed forever, it's kinda addicting haha!

I remember the first few weeks of nursing, of having to remind myself to take it one day at a time. Then suddenly it was 6 months already and now a year. I know eventually we'll have to start weaning, but for now, I'm enjoying every single minute of precious bonding time with my baby. :)

Did you get flowers on Valentine's Day?

Because I didn't.

But that's because I've told my hubby countless times through the years NOT to give me any. Of course he showered me with flowers and all kinds of gifts when he was still courting me and during the early parts of our relationship. He even gave me a giant teddy bear that was almost as big as me one year back in college. I swear, he must have looked so silly lugging that thing around in the mall after he bought it. People were probably thinking "ang cheesy naman" hahaha!

The thing is, I appreciate the gesture. But then I would always feel na sayang lang un money. Flowers are beautiful but they are expensive and eventually wilt. Being the practical person that I am, I would prefer that he get me something I really like and can use. That's why I always go with him when he buys me a gift or simply tells him specifically what I like (where to buy, size, color, even the price haha!). Yes, there's no element of surprise but hubby prefers it too since he doesn't need to play guessing games anymore.

And it was the same for this year too. I told hubby not to buy me flowers or anything. Ako na bahala sa gift niya. So I went online and bought a couple of outfits I really liked. So thanks hubby haha! ;p

Nagkataon lang talaga na red ang color nun dress. And no, I did not wear this on Valentine's Day ;p

But then Valentine's weekend came and I started seeing all these pictures on my feed of people showing off flowers and gifts they received from their significant others. At first, I was thinking how corny... But then after a while, parang lahat may flowers ha! I kept showing post after post jokingly to hubby and he was like "gusto mo din ba ng flowers? pwede kita bilhan" To which I was like "wag na, may gift ka na nga sakin diba? un Zalora!"

We also avoid going out on Valentine's Day because we know how traffic and full all the restaurants can get. We did go out on Feb. 13 and had dinner in probably the most unromantic restaurant ever - CHOPSTOP in SM BF! But it was fun for us since we ended up drinking (well I had one beer, my first ever for the longest time!). And I will get cheesy and say that it doesn't matter where we are, as long as we're together that's what counts. (eeeek corny but it's true hihihi!) ;p

Hiyang-hiya daw siya sa Valentine's date namin hahaha! 14 pa talaga un table number e! ;p

After, I saw a post a friend made on Facebook. It was something like how he didn't like Valentine's because if you're single, you feel bad about not having someone special. If you're in a relationship, you feel pressured to take part in the commercialized frenzy. He then goes on to say that shouldn't we make our loved ones feel special the rest of the year as well? He's newly married and apparently he didn't give his wife flowers or make any dinner plans... which led to her making tampo (uh-oh).

A lot of people commented, some agreeing with him while others saying it was unforgivable haha. One person said "Piece of advice lang... Just buy the flowers... It will turn out to be a bargain whatever price you bought it for..."

And now, after doing some soul-searching (naks), I have to say that I've turned a new leaf and sort of wish I'd gotten flowers on Vday. It doesn't have to be a super expensive bouquet, a single rose would work for me (or even from the garden pwede na rin, chos!). But I guess what I'm saying is that deep down, every girl wants to feel special, appreciated, and kilig once in a while. Especially for couples who've been together for a long time, it's important not to forget these little romantic gestures matter as well.

So will I be getting flowers next Valentine's? I guess we will just have to wait and see... :)

I just hate it when I eat somewhere, take pics, then completely forget to blog about it. It's been happening a lot lately, especially the past few months which were really hectic for me. Only now when I'm sorting through my files do I find folders with forgotten photos. Well, sayang naman so might as well still share them while I have the time... And I still have so many other posts to do like Skyler's supplier ratings and our Hong Kong trip!

Anyway, we had a family dinner in Todd English Food Hall in SM Aura a while back. It was my first time to eat there and I have to say, it was worth the wait for me.

The place is huge and almost every table was occupied when we dined there. Definitely make a reservation especially during weekends. I believe there are 9 different cooking stations where all the food is prepared from scratch right in front of you.

Since this was a family dinner, everybody just ordered what they wanted and I got to try a little bit of everything. And it was all DELICIOUS! From the pizza, pasta, and of course the meat! Just take a look at these pics
